We are looking for a Software Engineer with Big Data experience who will be a great fit both technically and culturally in the team and the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and build microservices on a Hadoop-based Big Data stack.
- Handle all aspects of development (requirements, design & code, review, test, documentation) as part of our expert team.
- Work in a cross-functional Agile team which is split across geographies.
Required skills and experience
- Proficient programmer in Java (Scala experience an added advantage).
- Hands-on development experience on Big Data solutions/frameworks/products built in a Microservices architecture using one or many of: Hadoop stack (HFDS, HBase), Kafka, Zookeeper, Spark/Flink, Drill, Search engines (Elasticsearch, Solr, Lucene, etc.).
- Hadoop stack support in production and deployment.
- Experience developing for Linux (or Linux-based) platforms is preferred.
- Excellent communication skills in English (teams are geographically spread across UK, Europe, Australia, USA and Manila).

- Research and experiment with emerging technologies and present solution proposals.
- Lead the delivery of specific modules/components of the solution.
- Mentor junior members of the team.

- At least a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or any related course.
- At least 5 years relevant hands-on development experience.

DevOps Engineer The role & Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Engineering team to in developing a highly effective and flexible DevOps infrastructure to support the development of both a big data, analytics platform and a user centric application than enables the use and visualisation of data.
- Understand and document how our clients operate with regards to deployments of the analytics platform.
- Understand the limitations and what impact it has on the product.
- Work within the client boundaries to define and evolve a streamlined deployment process.
- Work with Product, Engineering, TechComs, and Support to define, document, and promote best practices around deployment and management of a Hadoop stack.
- Help clients and early adopters to deploy the stack.
- Improve the manageability and supportability of the stack – this includes working with Product to define new features required to make the product easier to manage.
- Actively participate in proposing, planning and implementing DevOps solutions.
- Be an active part of a multinational DevOps team (Malaga and Manila) that is supporting an Engineering team developing both the existing Geneos product and the new analytics-based platform, sharing best practices, providing support, sharing knowledge and generally collaborating to solve the most pressing issues at hand.
