• Software Engineer

  We are looking for a Software Engineer with Big Data experience who will be a great fit both technically and culturally in the team and the organization.

  Key Responsibilities

  • Design and build microservices on a Hadoop-based Big Data stack.
  • Handle all aspects of development (requirements, design & code, review, test, documentation) as part of our expert team.
  • Work in a cross-functional Agile team which is split across geographies.

  Required skills and experience

  • Proficient programmer in Java (Scala experience an added advantage).
  • Hands-on development experience on Big Data solutions/frameworks/products built in a Microservices architecture using one or many of: Hadoop stack (HFDS, HBase), Kafka, Zookeeper, Spark/Flink, Drill, Search engines (Elasticsearch, Solr, Lucene, etc.).
  • Hadoop stack support in production and deployment.
  • Experience developing for Linux (or Linux-based) platforms is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills in English (teams are geographically spread across UK, Europe, Australia, USA and Manila).

• Senior Software Engineer

  We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer with Big Data experience who will be a great fit both technically and culturally in the team and the organization. We work as a cross-functional Agile team split across geographies.

  Key Responsibilities

  • Design and build microservices on a Hadoop-based Big Data stack without supervision.
  • Handle all aspects of development (requirements, design & code, review, test, documentation) as part of our expert team.
  • Research and experiment with emerging technologies and present solution proposals.
  • Lead the delivery of specific modules/components of the solution.
  • Mentor junior members of the team.

  Required skills and experience

  • At least a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or any related course.
  • At least 5 years relevant hands-on development experience.
  • Proficient programmer in Java (Scala experience an added advantage).
  • Hands-on development experience on Big Data solutions/frameworks/products built in a Microservices architecture using one or many of: Hadoop stack (HFDS, HBase), Kafka, Zookeeper, Spark/Flink, Drill, Search engines (Elasticsearch, Solr, Lucene, etc.).

  • Experience in designing, running and troubleshooting Hadoop clusters.

• DevOps Engineer

  The role & Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Engineering team to in developing a highly effective and flexible DevOps infrastructure to support the development of both a big data, analytics platform and a user centric application than enables the use and visualisation of data.
  • Understand and document how our clients operate with regards to deployments of the analytics platform.
  • Understand the limitations and what impact it has on the product.
  • Work within the client boundaries to define and evolve a streamlined deployment process.
  • Work with Product, Engineering, TechComs, and Support to define, document, and promote best practices around deployment and management of a Hadoop stack.
  • Help clients and early adopters to deploy the stack.
  • Improve the manageability and supportability of the stack – this includes working with Product to define new features required to make the product easier to manage.
  • Actively participate in proposing, planning and implementing DevOps solutions.
  • Be an active part of a multinational DevOps team (Malaga and Manila) that is supporting an Engineering team developing both the existing Geneos product and the new analytics-based platform, sharing best practices, providing support, sharing knowledge and generally collaborating to solve the most pressing issues at hand.

  • Experience with provisioning tools such as Terraform.
  • Experience with container technologies such as Docker.
  • Experience with virtualisation technolgies such as VMWare, ESXI
  • Experience with High Availability systems
  • Experience in continuos integration tools such as Jenkins.
  • Experience with SCV such as Git.
  • Some level of programming experience such as Java, .NET.

   

  Knowledge/Experience in the following is an advantage

  • Experience in Hadoop deployments.
  • Experience in managing Hadoop production environments.
  • DNS, LDAP, Active Directory, Firewalls, VPN Configuration, etc.
  • SBT, Sonar, NPM
  • Monitoring, Back-ups, ticketing systems
  • Python, Bash, PowerShell
  • Solaris, AIX
  • GitHub, Artifactory, Bintray, other CI Tools
  • Experience in building custom tools.
